Embankment Repairs and Rehabilitation

Many properties along the Mekong and Tonle Bassac rivers lose land yearly due to natural erosion. We have performed work for several private clients as well as for Happy Chandara School and the TotalEnergies Khsom Depot. We design and rehabilitate riverbanks through the use of geotextiles and earthworks such as toe protection, slope filling and protection, and galvanized gabions. These protective measures are long-term and minimize land losses and increase property value.

First we conduct site investigations to determine flow velocity and direction, water and ground levels, visual soil types, and understand about site access, potential work impediments, causes of additional damage, erosion, or blockages.

Then we begin studying the site in detail. The acquired data enables the accurate detailed engineering design of the riverbank protection. We are capable of managing the entire project scope from initial technical studies, to detailed engineering design, and finally the construction. The exact types of studies vary by case, generally the following will be undertaken:

  • Topographic surveys
  • Bathymetric surveys
  • Hydrology desk study including average flow, precipitation, and water levels
  • Geotechnical investigation by CPTu or borehole

Following the studies and mapping of the project site, we create detailed engineering designs and methodology of the protection. Using the designs, we also calculate the bill of quantities. All of this data is combined into a final report and presented to the client. The study and design phase of the project is completed.

Once construction of the riverbank protection is approved, we mobilize our teams and begin the work. We ensure routine and transparent communications and reporting to the client. Upon completion, an as-built survey is conducted, drawn, and presented to the client. This aspect is crucial to enable future verification surveys.

We offer a one (1) year full warranty on our riverbank protection projects. Using our as-built survey as baseline, we conduct two more surveys for verification at six (6) months and at twelve (12) months. All data and findings are reported to the client.
